Children's Christian Education Survey

Thanks for taking a few minutes out of your busy schedule to answer a few questions related to Godly Play and Children's Church.

Godly Play

The staff and volunteers for Children's Christian Education at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church are committed to create a special, sacred place and time where children can learn about the mystery of God and the stories of our Christian traditions. With that in mind, and after researching several approaches and curriculums for Christian Education, it was decided that Godly Play is the best way for children ages 3–10 to experience God and to learn spirituality. The use of Montessori's approach to education has been adapted to Godly Play.

The goal of Godly Play is to stimulate children's active participation in story and ritual and to awaken their creativity for the learning of the language, sacred stories, parables, liturgical action and silence of the Christian tradition.

Children's Church

Children's Church is a progressive church service for children that contains many of the elements of adult worship. It includes such things as lighting of the candle, prayers, a brief lesson based on the sermon for that day, and songs. In this way, the whole church is studying the same themes together on different levels.
The goal of Children's Church is to teach children how to participate meaningfully in our Sunday morning services when they get older.
